The sludge dewatering system consists of two 1.5 meter belt filter presses, two polymer feed systems, two progressive cavity sludge transfer pumps, a sludge conveyer and a magnetic flowmeter. An effluent pumping system provides plant effluent as washwater for the process at the rate of 85 gpm. City water is provided as a backup. A liquid cationic polymer is used for chemical conditioning of the digested sludge feed to the process. The dewatered sludge cake is trucked to a local land fill. The average feed sludge to the process is 3.5% and the average cake solids off the process is 24%.
