The plant is manned 24/7. Staffing consists of a superintendent, an assistant superintendent, a laboratory technician, three operators, a belt press operator, two laborers and a two man sewer crew for maintenance of sewer lines throughout the city. The plant's staff has initiated a regular maintenance program for all plant equipment that includes regular fluid and filter changes on all equipment, a valve exercise program, a preventive maintenance program, parts inventory program and monitoring of chemical usage. All lab results and operating records are computerized allowing several monthly reports including a two page WVDEP report, a four page internal operating report and a seven page process control report.
The staff is constantly working on a comprehensive CSO
and pretreatment program to better serve the community and the environment.
Moundsville Wastewater Treatment Plant recently revamped their computer system
to meet the ever- changing demands in the wastewater industry.
Upgrades have included new software, hardware and networking system for
the staff. The Moundsville Sanitary Board endorses a strong training and
certification program for all employees. This should enable the staff to meet
the upcoming challenges and the ever- changing regulatory environment, in which
the wastewater field deals with daily.
Since the initiation of operation 11 years ago, the Moundsville/Glen Dale Wastewater Treatment Plant has received the following awards : Honorable mention for the 1990 WV O&M Excellent Award ,tied for first place for the 1991-92 WV O&M Excellent Award in the one to ten mgd category, 2nd place for 1993 WV O&M award, 1st place for 1994 WV O&M award, 1st place in 1995 in the region 3 for O&M award and 2nd place in 1996 in the Nationals for O&M . Moundsville have also received an award for outstanding achievement for public education activities. The plant’s staff also offers tours to the public, groups and schools. They have also helped with several papers and projects from the elementary level to the college level.
